Flag football field dimensions under the NFL FLAG rules are 25 yards wide by either 70 or 64 yards long, including the end zones. This free tool draws that field in your browser so you can see the layout before you mark it. You pick a standard size or enter a custom one, and the page shows a labelled diagram with end zones, goal lines, the midfield line to gain and shaded no-run zones. It also lists what it takes to mark the field: the perimeter, the area, the number of lines and cones, and the total length of line to paint. No sign-up is needed, and nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use the Flag Football Field Diagram Tool

  1. Open the Field control and choose Option A (25 x 70 yards with 10-yard end zones) or Option B (25 x 64 yards with 7-yard end zones).
  2. To use your own size, choose Custom and enter the width, the length including the end zones, and the end-zone depth in yards.
  3. Turn on Mark no-run zones (5 yd) to shade the areas where the offense cannot run the ball.
  4. Turn on Show measurements to label the key distances on the diagram.
  5. Pick a Look of Color or White, depending on whether you want a colored or plain diagram.
  6. Read the table titled What it takes to mark this field for the goal-line distance, perimeter, area, lines, cones and total line length.

When the layout is right, use Download PDF, Print or SVG to keep a copy.

The page address keeps your choices, so you can bookmark a custom field or send the link to whoever marks the field. The table updates every time you change a number.

For a full football field with NFL measurements, use the football field diagram instead. The diagram here is drawn lengthways, end zone to end zone, so it prints best in landscape.

How big is a flag football field?

Under NFL FLAG Official Playing Rules, section IV, a field is 25 yards wide. It is 70 yards long with 10-yard end zones (Option A), or 64 yards long with 7-yard end zones (Option B). In both options the distance between the goal lines is 50 yards. Since 25 yards equals 75 feet and 70 yards equals 210 feet, Option A measures 75 feet by 210 feet, and Option B (64 yards is 192 feet) measures 75 feet by 192 feet.

What does a flag football field layout and diagram look like?

Seen from above, the field is a long narrow rectangle with an end zone at each end and a line across at each goal line and at midfield. With no-run zones switched on, a 5-yard band before midfield and before each goal line is shaded as well. The tool above draws that layout to scale and labels the distances, and you can print the diagram or save it as a PDF to take to the field.

How do you mark a flag football field?

Start with the outside boundary, which is two sidelines and two end lines. Option A has a perimeter of 190 yards (570 feet) and an area of 1,750 square yards (15,750 square feet, or about 1,463.2 square metres). Option B has a perimeter of 178 yards and an area of 1,600 square yards (14,400 square feet, or about 1,337.8 square metres).

Next, add the lines across the field. Each option needs 9 lines across, with a cone at each end, so 18 cones in total. The full paint length is 365 yards for Option A and 353 yards for Option B. Mark the midfield line and the goal lines carefully, because the first-down line is at midfield and the distance between goal lines is 50 yards in both options.

Where are the no-run zones?

The no-run zones are the 5 yards before midfield and the 5 yards before the opponent’s end zone. That means there is a zone on each side of midfield and one in front of each goal line. The tool shades these areas on the diagram when you turn on Mark no-run zones (5 yd).

The ball is never spotted closer than 10 yards to a sideline, so on a 25-yard field every play starts in the middle 5 yards. Keep this in mind when you set up practice drills near the edges of the field.

Can I fit several flag fields on one football field?

Often, yes. A full football field is 53 1/3 yards wide and 120 yards long, while an NFL FLAG field is 25 yards wide, so two Option A fields can sit side by side across the width if you leave a little space between them. Lay out the boundary first, then use the custom size here to check your own space before you buy cones.

Frequently asked questions

How long and how wide is a flag football field?

Under the NFL FLAG rules the field is 25 yards wide and 70 yards long including two 10-yard end zones (Option A), or 64 yards long with two 7-yard end zones (Option B). That is 75 feet by 210 feet or 75 feet by 192 feet. Other leagues set their own sizes, so check yours.

Is it free and do I need an account?

Yes. The tool is free, needs no sign-up, and runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.

Can I print it or save it as a PDF?

Yes. Use Download PDF to save the diagram as a PDF, Print to print it, or SVG to download a scalable image.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The diagram scales to the screen width, and Download PDF gives a full-size page for printing.

Can I plan a field that is not an NFL FLAG size?

Yes. Choose Custom and type the width, the length including both end zones and the end-zone depth in yards. The diagram, the no-run zones and the marking table all update; the tool warns you if the end zones would take up half the field or more.

How many cones do I need?

One at each end of every line across the field. With no-run zones that is 9 lines and 18 cones for either NFL FLAG option; without them it is 5 lines and 10 cones.

Why are there no-run zones on both sides of midfield?

Teams switch direction, so each team meets one no-run zone before midfield and one before the goal line on every drive.
