Football Field Diagram is a free, browser-based tool that draws a measured football field you can print or download. It needs no sign-up, and nothing you create is uploaded. You can choose a full NFL field or one of two NFL FLAG layouts, turn on measurements in yards and feet, and switch between a colored and a white look, which is useful for printing. The page also lists the measurements for the field you pick, so you can check your diagram against the official numbers.
A table under the diagram lists every measurement with its source.
Choose the NFL field or a flag field.

How to use the Football Field Diagram
- Pick your field type: NFL field, NFL FLAG Option A (25 x 70 yards, 10-yard end zones), or NFL FLAG Option B (25 x 64 yards, 7-yard end zones).
- Turn on Show measurements to add dimension lines with yards and feet to the diagram.
- Set Look to Color or White. Pick White if you plan to print on paper.
- Read the measurement table under the diagram.
- Click Download PDF for a landscape Letter page, Print to send the diagram to your printer, or SVG to get a vector file.
The NFL diagram includes yard lines every 5 yards, numbers every 10 yards, and hash marks every yard along both sidelines and the inbounds lines. Goal posts sit on the end lines. To draw plays on a field, use the football play designer or print blank play templates.
The page address keeps your field choice, so a bookmark reopens the same diagram. For a flag field with your own size, use the flag football field dimensions tool, which also counts the cones and the line you need to mark it.
The diagram prints on a landscape page, so the whole field fits with its measurements. Turn Show measurements off for a clean field to draw on.
How big is a football field?
A full NFL field, including both end zones, measures 360 feet by 160 feet. In yards, that is 120 by 53 1/3. The playing field between the goal lines is 100 yards long, because the two end zones add 10 yards at each end.
The NFL FLAG layouts are smaller. Option A is 25 by 70 yards with 10-yard end zones. Option B is 25 by 64 yards with 7-yard end zones.
How far apart are the hash marks?
The hash marks, also called the inbounds lines, sit 70 feet 9 inches from each sideline. Because the field is 160 feet wide, you can subtract those two distances from the total width to find the gap between the lines. That leaves 18 feet 6 inches, so the two inbounds lines are 18 feet 6 inches apart.
The goal posts have a crossbar that is also 18 feet 6 inches long. It sits 10 feet above the ground. When you draw a field with the measurements turned on, you can compare these numbers directly.
How deep is an end zone?
An NFL end zone is 10 yards deep, which equals 30 feet. Two end zones take 60 feet out of the 360-foot length, leaving 300 feet, or 100 yards, of playing field between the goal lines.
NFL FLAG Option B uses 7-yard end zones instead, which are 21 feet deep.
How wide is a football field?
An NFL field is 160 feet wide, which is 53 1/3 yards. That is why yard numbers and hash marks look closer together across the field than along it: the field is more than twice as long as it is wide. Flag fields are much narrower; both NFL FLAG options are 25 yards (75 feet) wide, so a flag field fits inside the width of a regular field, and several flag fields can be laid out across one football field. Check which option you have chosen before you measure distances from the goal line.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free and do I need an account?
Yes, the tool is free and needs no sign-up. It runs in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.
Can I print it or save it as a PDF?
Yes. Download PDF creates a landscape Letter page, and Print sends the diagram to your printer. Set Look to White first for a clean printout.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The diagram scales to the screen width, and Download PDF gives a full-size page for printing.
What is the difference between an NFL field and a flag football field?
An NFL field is 360 by 160 feet including end zones, with 10-yard end zones. NFL FLAG Option A is 25 by 70 yards with 10-yard end zones, and Option B is 25 by 64 yards with 7-yard end zones. Choose the layout you need before you start drawing.
Where do the measurements come from?
The NFL field measurements come from Rule 1 of the 2026 NFL Official Playing Rules, and the flag fields from section IV of the NFL FLAG Official Playing Rules (revised 2025-03-24).
How long is a football field in feet?
360 feet including both end zones, and 300 feet (100 yards) between the goal lines.
Can I use what I make here commercially?
Yes. Sheets, cards, diagrams and PDFs you make with this tool are yours to print, hand out, sell or put in your own products, such as a coaching book on KDP or a printable on Etsy, with no credit needed. You may not copy the tool or the site itself; see the terms.
